The Forensic Science Workshop for Teachers, featuring presenters Mr. Mark Okuda and Dr. Frank Stephenson, and sponsored by BABEC and ABI, will be held at Applied Biosystems, Inc. in Foster City, CA July 10th-13th, 2007. This workshop will introduce participants to many aspects of forensic science including:

  • DNA analysis using PCR
  • Blood splatter analysis
  • Fingerprinting
  • Population statistics in forensics
  • Ballistics/ firearms analysis
  • Mock trials
  • and much more!

To register for the workshop, click on the link at the bottom of the page. Please note: you must log in (see left menu bar) or you will not be able to view the link or sign up for the event. Registration for the workshop will close on June 29th and notification of acceptances will be emailed on July 3rd. Details (directions, agenda, etc.) will be provided in the acceptance email. There is no fee to attend the workshop and continental breakfast, lunch, and snacks will be provided.

Credits from SJSU and CSUEB will be available for purchase after completing the workshop. Participants will also receive certificate for professional development hours.

BABEC currently supports the D1S80 VNTR PCR lab. Please check with your local partnership for Forensics Kit use options.
