Santa Clara University, the Bay Area Biotechnology Education Consortium, and the Dolan DNA Learning Center are happy to announce this quality, up-to-date educator training workshop covering neuroscience research, as well as another covering cancer biology. With funding from NIH SEPA and the Hewlett Foundation we are offering these free workshops to high school and college educators, especially those in the areas of biology, psychology, psychiatry, and health.

Genes to Cognition (G2C) Workshop

This free 1-day workshop introduces educators to up-to-date neuroscience research using interactive, web-based experiments. From molecular signals, to neural circuits, to anatomical structures of the brain, participants explore thinking and disorders of thinking at different levels of complexity. A new Internet site, Genes to Cognition Online (www.g2conline.org), provides resources to teach the complex workings of the brain, including unique learning aids that allow students to build concept maps to visualize the learning progress.

Inside Cancer Workshop

This free 1-day workshop introduces educators to innovative ways to teach cancer biology and how our increasing knowledge is changing the battle against this devastating disease. An associated, innovative Internet site, Inside Cancer (www.insidecancer.org), supports the curriculum with authoritative and engaging multimedia content that is aligned to standards. A unique teaching tool, the Inside Cancer Teacher Center helps participants build and share lesson plans and customize multimedia presentations that focus on syllabus-centered instruction.
