Created by Mr. Mark Okuda and Dr. Frank Stephenson, this unit uses a fictional story as the background for assessing and scientifically evaluating the evidence at a crime scene. Students learn how to analyze fingerprints, identify differences between human tissue types, conduct blood spatter analysis, test for the presence of blood, perform ballistics and firearms anaylsis, conduct DNA analysis using the Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR), and use mitochondrial DNA sequence data.
Components of the unit may be used individually or together as a comprehensive program.
