BABEC provides a wide variety of professional development opportunities throughout the year. All of our workshops and training sessions support teachers in implementing our NGSS-aligned lessons and hands-on lab activities in their classroom. Check out our upcoming workshops here.

BABEC Workshops
- We offer FREE, high quality workshops that focus on a BABEC lesson, twice a year, Fall and Spring.
- Get hands-on experience while learning alongside teachers from across the Bay area. These full or half day immersive trainings take place on Saturdays.

Other Workshops – California and beyond
Pending funding, BABEC can bring its Biotech Bootcamp to any part of the US. This 3-day workshop focuses on fundamental biotech lab bench skills while experiencing multiple BABEC lessons and labs. Other topics covered include lab math, lab and classroom management, tips and tricks. Our Bootcamps can be customized to cover introductory topics that utilize few equipment to more advanced topics like polymerase chain reaction.
Lastly, we offer professional development at your site or ours, according to your needs:
- District Level workshops
- Site specific or topic specific workshops
- Individual visits to our lab in Burlingame, CA to learn a lesson

Attended a Workshop? Receive Grad Units!
- Attend a workshop
- Implement one or more lessons, fill out a teacher reflection, and provide student survey data.
Half or one-day workshops are eligible for 1 unit. Three-day workshops are eligible for 3 graduate units. (Course description link)
